Education Outreach Program

The Education Outreach Program is a public information dissemination and Juvenile Court outreach program.

Purpose

The purpose of the program is to provide information to school-aged youth, college students, child-serving professionals, and interested community members regarding juvenile law, juvenile court processes, and probation services in Washtenaw County.

About

Presentations last 60 to 90 minutes and may focus on the court as a whole, or specific areas of interest identified by the requesting group. Presentations are generally held in the classroom, workplace, or regular meeting place of the requesting group. Tours of the court, and opportunities to observe court hearings, are available upon request.

A specific program for elementary and middle school students has been developed and includes a Power Point presentation and use of props such as handcuffs and clothes worn in detention.
