Juvenile Court Division

The Prosecutors Office Juvenile Court Division staffs a:

  • First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney supervisor
  • Two full-time Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys (APAs)
  • One full-time Legal Assistant
  • One full-time Victim Advocate

Responsibilities

The Juvenile Court Division plays an important role in holding juveniles accountable for their criminal acts as well as protecting children from abuse and neglect. In handling both delinquency and child protective proceedings, our Office consults with:

  • Children's Protective Services workers
  • Children
  • Court staff
  • Crime victims
  • Department of Human Services (previously Family Independent Agency)
  • Foster care workers
  • Other professionals
  • Parents
  • Police Officers
  • School officials
  • Witnesses as necessary

They also answers questions from the public, media and other sources as needed. After a review of submitted police reports for legal sufficiency of criminal charges, our Office will prosecute all authorized juvenile delinquency and status offense (runaways and truants) cases.
