County Administrator
Week of May 9, 2022
Greetings,
It's been a great week! I had the pleasure of spending some time with our hard working Health Department staff. May 6- 12 was Nurse's Week, and I was honored to provide a "Strolling Lunch" to the staff at the Health Department. Health Director, Jimena Loveluck, introduced me to some of the newest team members there and I was able to chat with some of our more seasoned staff.
About 30 employees stopped by foir lunch and there was nearly 300 years worth of service to Washtenaw residents represented in the room! I enjoyed hearing updates on family members, vacation plans, and memorable moments over the last two years. It is clear that our folks at the Health Department are mission-driven and service oriented. I am proud to have each and every one of them on board. Check out more pics in the "Out and About" section of this page, and don't forget to subscribe to my monthly newsletter, "The Administratror's Report".
You may have learned by now that Washtenaw County has moved to a "high" COVID-19 community level. At this level, masking in indoor public settings is strongly recommended for everyone. So, you may notice many employees wearing masks indoors in our buildings. While it's not required or mandated, our staff will do all we can to protect visitors to our buildings. We hope that you will join us in masking to help stop the spread of Covid-19.
Until next time,
Best,
-

What is a County Administrator?
(From the National Association of Counties (NACO)
"Counties are responsible for providing core services such as human services, criminal justice, public welfare and infrastructure, to communities of all sizes across America. Counties are able to provide a vast array of services through the work of 3.3 million employees.
To help with the increasing complexity of county activities and the range of responsibilities, many county boards appoint county administrators... Most often, county administrators implement the board’s policy, run the daily operations of the county and prepare the annual budget. "
