Sue Shink (D)
Commissioner, District 2
It’s a pleasure serving you in District 2! Please contact me with any concerns or if you want to talk about what’s important to you. My email is [email protected] and my phone number is (734) 249-0377. I’m here to be helpful. And if you are interested in serving on a board or commission, I’d love to help you find a way to be involved.
I serve as the Chair of the Board of Commissioners and appreciate the trust my colleagues have placed in me. I lead our climate mitigation and readiness work and am proud that we have now hired a climate acting planning team. I lead our public engagement process for and negotiated our first American Rescue Plan funding package. I continue to be involved in just about every policy decision made at Washtenaw County.
All of the commissioners serve on a number of committees, most of which were created to provide valuable resident participation in decision-making. I serve as liaison to the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC), the Washtenaw County Employees Retirement Commission, the Washtenaw County Brownfield Authority, the Environmental Council, the Agricultural Lands Preservation Advisory Committee, Michigan Works! Southeast Consortium, (CARD)(Coalition for Action on Remediation of Dioxane), and. I have served on the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Washtenaw County Food Policy Council. In addition, I attend many community group meetings and volunteer.
I am a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and have a masters degree in Resource Policy from the University of Michigan School of Environment and Sustainability (SEAS). I live on a small farm with my family and goats, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and horses.
