On January 9th, 2019, Shannon Beeman was sworn in as Washtenaw County Commissioner for District 3. This is Commissioner Beeman’s first public office and she is proud to serve District 3 which encompasses Bridgewater Township, Freedom Township, Lodi Township, Manchester Township, Village of Manchester, City of Milan, Saline Township, City of Saline, Sharon Township, and York Township.
Education
Commissioner Beeman earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Walsh College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Kendall College of Art and Design. Her career has spanned economic development and higher education, with an emphasis on supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Boards
Shannon Beeman serves on the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners because she wants to make a positive contribution, through time, effort and energy, to the county that has made a positive impact on her life. In adherence to this belief, Commissioner Beeman serves as a member on the following community boards:
• Broadband Taskforce
• Michigan Works Southeast Consortium
• Saline Local Finance Development Authority (LDFA)
Community
Commissioner Beeman strives to accurately present the issues facing District 3 at the board table. She works to uphold the unique qualities of the district that she has loved for so many years. She strives to assure that those qualities remain the same for generations to come. Commissioner Beeman believes that government should be responsive to its citizens and provide opportunities for meaningful public input.
Commissioner Beeman lives in Manchester with her husband, John, their two young children, and a big, black lab named Bailey.
