Washtenaw County Winter Warming Centers

Daytime and Overnight Winter Warming Centers

In cooperation with OCED and other organizations throughout Washtenaw County, the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC) is providing emergency shelter for homeless individuals during the winter months.

No pre-registration necessary for daytime warming centers. For access to overnight warming centers, each client must call Housing Access of Washtenaw County (HAWC) and obtain a referral to the Delonis Center. More information is available by calling HAWC at (734) 961-1999 or visiting www.housingaccess.net. If you are seeking shelter after 5 pm, there will be onsite assistance provided at the Delonis Center (312 W Huron St, Ann Arbor).

Overnight Warming Centers

Due to COVID-19, shelter space is limited this year. If you need shelter and it is possible to safely stay with family or friends, we encourage you to do so.

The Delonis Center (312 W Huron Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48103) offers an overnight warming center for those experiencing homelessness.

Shelter is available beginning at 8:30 pm every night between November 8, 2020 through March 31, 2021.

The Delonis Center is also providing an option for ensuring homeless individuals throughout the county are able to travel to the warming center after 5 PM and on weekends.

Weather Havens

During extreme weather there will be additional shelter locations open during the day. The list of locations will be posted on this site and updated regularly.

Individuals needing to escape adverse cold conditions (real or wind chill temperature at 20 degrees or below) can temporarily stay at these weather havens before continuing on to their destination. Havens are open during agencies’ regular business hours”.
