Electronics
Electronic waste contains hazardous materials such as brominated flame retardants, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead, and mercury, and should not be thrown away in your trash. Below are some resources for proper and safe disposal of electronics. Check our Turning Trash into Treasure Guide (PDF) for more information and locations throughout Washtenaw County.
Computers
Toxins in your computer are linked to reproductive and neurological disorders, including those listed above. Let’s work together to ensure these hazardous materials do not end up in our landfills! Visit the national PC Disposal website for more information.
For more information on the environmental and health effects of computers, have a look at the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition website and their Clean Computer Campaign website.
