2021 Summer Playground Camp is back! We are excited to let you know that after much thought it is time to see you all in-person this summer. However, due to COVID please know that the space will be limited and there will be several changes made to keep your children as safe as possible. Registration is tentative for March 1,2021.
Since 2008, the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission has sponsored summer playground programs for at-risk youth in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in the Ypsilanti area. This effort includes hiring local activity leaders, providing sports equipment, table games, and arts and craft supplies at each location during the summer.
This summer, the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission is pleased to offer the program at three locations: Superior Township at Christian Love Church, West Willow at New Covenant Church, and Sugar brook Neighborhood at Grace Fellowship Church. Kids will enjoy arts and crafts, group games, interactive nature fun, weekly themes, and more!
The camp is and available for children who have completed kindergarten to 11 years old. Weekly programs will be offered for 8 weeks during summer months. There is no limit to the number of weeks you register for. All camp staff have passed a background check and are certified in CPR, first aid, and youth skills based training. Food Gatherers is generously providing daily breakfast and lunch at each location, but parents can pack a lunch for their children as well.
