About Clean SweepClean Sweep Program Pesticde Disposal

The Michigan Clean Sweep Program is operated by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD). This program is perfect for agribusinesses, greenhouses, nurseries, and golf courses with expired or unwanted pesticide products and is available at zero cost to Michigan residents or businesses.

Since 1996, more than 2.2 million pounds of pesticides have been removed from circulation and properly disposed of.

The Home Toxics Center accepts pesticides from any Michigan resident or business.

What We Accept

  • Pesticides including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, etc.
  • Fertilizer with pesticides included in its ingredients

Please note that we cannot accept fertilizer without pesticides or other non-pesticide products under the Clean Sweep Program. Examples are pesticides that are organic or biodegradable, or "plant food" that does not contain pesticides in the ingredients.

Since the start of the program, we've collected over 150,000 pounds of pesticides. The graph below shows our yearly totals.
