Plants for your Rain Garden
Why native? Flowers and trees that are native to our area have deep roots that suck up water. That is a good thing when you are in a rain garden!
What to plant? Choose from our list. Over the past decades, we have tried out rain garden plants in neighborhood gardens. These are the plants that do well in rain gardens, and people like them.

We are an appointment only nursery and will do whatever we can to meet our customers needs whether it is in-person (six feet of separation) or curbside service. We are currently in the process of developing a website, which will hopefully be up in a couple weeks.
We are continuing our operation by growing our plants in primarily deep plugs, which we sell in full trays, mix and match kits, or individually. We are currently growing over 150 species and are continuing to add more this season.
We will be posting updated plant lists on facebook until our website is ready.

Are you doing in-person sales?
Yes, Service at your car window. No wandering about the nursery at this time.
Unless invited, customers need to stay in their car. We approach them (masked) and help them. We have a drive thru and view area to display plants, hard-goods, ornaments and tools. Our displays will change as new materials arrive.
Are you doing online orders?
E-mail a plant list to: [email protected]
Are you doing curb-side pickup?
Yes, we like pre-orders, but on busy days the phones back up and it’s difficult to keep up. If possible calling during the week helps.

Are you doing curb-side pickup? YES! Orders online can be picked up street-side at our nursery just outside of Durand, where there is a no-contact pickup station. (free)
We, also, are now shipping (fees apply) to anywhere in Michigan! (We aren’t licensed, unfortunately, to ship outside of Michigan.)

The nursery is closed to visitors, and therefore, no shopping at the nursery is currently allowed. Our policy may change by the end of May, however, after our covered hoop houses are uncovered for the remainder of the season.
I am hoping to start a "video concierge" by appointment, via zoom or skype, where I will take customers shopping through the nursery using live video sharing. I will also be able to personally advise customers during this appointment time.
Public sales through nonprofits May 23rd and May 31st, but host organizations are adjusting to the situation month by month.

We are doing in person sales on our retail sales dates starting on May 16th (mostly weekends, but we’ll be adding a few weekday dates because of COVID). Dates/Times are posted on our website. All sales are entirely outdoors with 6’ distancing and masks/covering required and we will be limiting the number of people shopping at one time. No children under 16.
We will do orders via email or phone, but we are having difficulty keeping up with communications as we have not had seasonal staff yet this spring.
We will do contactless pick-up if desired. Nursery is on 33 acres; so spacing is not an issue :-)

BetterFinds is taking orders, delivering within our Lansing to Midland client base, and, still vending at our normal, early-opening Farmers Markets in May & June — Midland Area, Meridian Township (Okemos), and Eastern Ingham (Williamston). And if someone makes it worth The Lady’s time, would be happy to drive to the Ann Arbor area – if nothing else, meet us halfway in Williamston.
That said . . . . Best link is BetterFinds Facebook Page – info; daily images of available stock; all the information.
And if you would be so kind to include a link to our blogpost in your communication — ‘2020 Michigan Native Plant Sales & Events’.

As always, a percentage of the profits will support three great organizations: West Bloomfield Nature Room, Stage Nature Center, and Clinton River Watershed Council. Plants will be available online through June 11th 2020. Thank you for all the orders so far. What a great response! Species will be added as they become available. Please continue to check back.
