About the Honorable Arianne Elizabeth Slay
Judge Slay began serving the Washtenaw County community in 2005 as a Program Manager at Community Corrections and later as an Assistant Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney. From 2017 to 2022, Judge Slay served as a Deputy City Attorney in the City of Ann Arbor, focusing on municipal matters, ordinance prosecution, and criminal justice reform. Judge Slay has worked as a trainer for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, and as a faculty instructor at Washtenaw Community College, providing instruction to thousands of attorneys, law enforcement professionals, and social workers.
Judge Arianne Slay was elected by the voters of Washtenaw County in 2022 and took the bench on December 7, 2022. Judge Slay has been a resident of Washtenaw County since 1985, and she is a graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. Judge Slay received her bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from Michigan State University.
Community Connections
Judge Slay is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and the Vanzetti-Hamilton Bar Association. She is also a member of the Woman Lawyers Association of Michigan, Black Woman Lawyers of Michigan, and the NAACP- Ann Arbor Chapter. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Slay served as an Advisory Board Member for Justice In Deed and a co-chair of the Bias Awareness Committee of the Washtenaw County Bar Association.
Cases
Judge Slay currently presides over the personal protection order docket, family and criminal law cases.
***EFFECTIVE JANUARY 3, 2023, JUDGE SLAY’S CRIMINAL HEARINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED IN PERSON.***
CRIMINAL CASES: If you need to participate via zoom, you must submit a Request and Order for Zoom Appearance at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled hearing. These requests will be determined on a case-by-case basis and will be approved or denied by Judge Slay.

A Notice of Motion Hearing form is required for all criminal cases to be physically scheduled onto the docket.
DOMESTIC CASES: Domestic hearings will be held via Zoom.
A Zoom Notice of Motion Hearing form is required for all domestic cases to be scheduled onto the docket.
