One of the best places to play badminton in Washtenaw County is at the Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center! We can accommodate up to eight courts simultaneously. The center offers drop-in play opportunities for adults and families separately during various times throughout the week.

An annual non-sanctioned tournament has been organized by volunteers and staff since December of 2001 and typically takes place during the winter season.

Badminton Hours:

  • Monday: 5:30 - 8:30pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 6am - 12:30pm
  • Wednesday and Friday: 3:00 - 8:30pm
  • Saturday: 1:00 - 5:30m
  • Sunday: 1 - 4:30pm
Volleyball game

Volleyball is back at the Rec Center!   One court will be available, on a first come first serve basis, that will accommodate 12 players.  Players are asked to maintain as much distance from others as possible.  Masks are required at all times for those who are not fully vaccinated, and encouraged for those who are fully vaccinated.

Volleyball Hours:

  • Monday: 1pm - 8:30pm
  • Wednesday and Friday: 1pm - 3:30pm
  • Saturday: 2:30 - 5:30pm

An outdoor sand volleyball court is available at Rolling Hills Park.

Drop In Pickleball at MLMRC 2

If you have not yet heard of pickleball, it is about time that you do! This paddleball game has interested people for over 20 years, and it is played similar to tennis and badminton. What makes pickleball different from badminton or tennis is that instead of using a racket, you use a wooden paddle to hit the ball back and forth. The gymnasium can accommodate multiple nets simultaneously. At the MLM Recreation Center, pickleball is a growing co-ed participant sport and all ages are welcome!

Pickleball Hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 6am - 2:30pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 1 - 8:30pm
  • Saturday: 8am - 2:00pm
  • Sunday: 9am - 12:30pm
