COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are surging in Washtenaw County. More than 100 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported every day. In the past two weeks, we have had a total of 1,010 confirmed cases in Washtenaw County. For context, that is more than double the confirmed cases reported in our two week report at the end of September. Most of the current cases are not U-M students.
Each of those cases comes with multiple close contacts, meaning our staff is making hundreds of calls each day to inform close contacts that they may have been exposed. This volume of cases means that despite our staff working as hard as we can, we are not able to investigate or notify close contacts as quickly as we'd like. If you’ve been exposed, you might not get a call from us right away.
This is why we need everyone's help to follow isolation and quarantine precautions! If you test positive for COVID-19 or have been exposed, follow these guidelines to help prevent spreading COVID-19 to others.
We want to thank our incredible WCHD contact tracers and case investigators, as well as everyone who is working hard in our community to protect others!
