We are pleased to share our 2019 Annual Report with our community and partners.
In 2019, the Health Department provided thousands of clinical visits and environmental health inspections. We responded to urgent and emergent health issues including Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), measles, and opioid use. We created health campaigns to promote tobacco quitting, medical marijuana safety, youth mental health, and Hepatitis A prevention. We built a brand-new public playground space right outside our offices as a winner of the 2019 KaBOOM! Play Everywhere Challenge.
Our work is driven by our department-wide commitment to health equity. We helped make healthy food more accessible to thousands of families and supported community projects that are helping build foundations for residents to live healthy lives. We launched Health for All, our new website that shares interactive data on hundreds of factors related to community health. We also formed our Health for All Steering Committee, a group created to prioritize public health issues and take actions to improve community conditions to support health and well-being.
At the end of 2019, we were just learning about the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Since then, we have had to shift resources to focus on combatting the pandemic. We remain inspired by our vision of a community in which every resident enjoys the best possible state of health and well-being.
We are honored to serve as your local health department. We look forward to continuing our work together to ensure everyone in our community can have the opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
