rapid test news flash

Appointments are now all booked for this event and registration is closed.

Washtenaw County Health Department is offering free drive-through rapid antigen testing from 4:00-6:00pm on Thursday, November 4 at 555 Towner St., Ypsilanti. Appointments are limited. Testing is encouraged for those who may be at higher risk for COVID-19, including those who went to large, crowded events this past weekend or who are not vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Accessible testing is critical in helping us slow the spread of COVID-19,” says Jimena Loveluck, MSW, Washtenaw County Health Department health officer. “We encourage people who have recently attended large, crowded events with poor ventilation get tested, especially if they aren’t yet vaccinated against COVID-19.”

Individuals with an appointment for testing can drive or walk up to the Health Department parking lot at 555 Towner St. in Ypsilanti. Those getting tested are encouraged to wait 15-30 minutes for results or can request a call with results. Testing is available for those ages 2 years old and older. Symptoms are not required for testing. Health insurance is not required for testing. A Spanish language interpreter will be available and telephone interpretation is available for all other languages.

COVID-19 vaccines will not be provided at this event. Vaccine clinic information is available on the Health Department’s website

A list of local COVID-19 testing sites is available on the Health Department’s website. Please contact individual providers for specific information, including cost. For questions or concerns about your health, contact your health care provider.

Local Transmission and Precautions

Local transmission of COVID-19 remains high as defined in the CDC COVID Data Tracker. Washtenaw County Health Department strongly recommends masking for everyone in indoor, public spaces. Masking is required in K-12 educational settings under local health orders

Washtenaw County is reporting approximately 70-80 cases per day with test positivity of about 4.8%. Hospitalizations and deaths remain high.

Anyone eligible but not yet vaccinated against COVID-19 should do so as soon as possible. Vaccination is safe, effective, free, and available at multiple community locations. The vast majority of hospitalizations and deaths continue to be among unvaccinated individuals. The vaccine’s first job is to prevent serious illness or death.
