The Washtenaw County Board of Public Works, the Office of the Water Resources Commissioner, and community partners will be sponsoring an upcoming Environmental Clean-up Day. This event provides an opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted household items in a safe and sustainable manner.

What to bring
- Tires
- Scrap metal
- Appliances (washers, dryers, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.)
- Household hazardous materials (cleaning supplies, motor oil, pesticides, mercury, paint, etc.)
- Electronic equipment (computers, televisions, toasters, etc.)
- Bulky household items (mattresses, furniture, etc.)
- Construction and demolition waste (drywall, concrete, wood, bricks, etc.)
- Styrofoam
- Traditional recyclable materials (glass, cardboard, plastic, paper, metal)
What not to bring
Household garbage and driveway concrete/asphalt will not be accepted at this event.
Cost
The Clean-up Day event is free, but there is a suggested $10 donation per car to help decrease disposal costs and to help maintain this community collection event. Residents can bring up to four tires for free, but a $5 donation is suggested for each additional tire. Residents can also bring one television, appliance or computer, but a $10 donation is suggested for each additional item.
Who can participate
This is a service for Washtenaw County residents only, funded and coordinated by the Solid Waste Division of the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office, Board of Public Works, Eastern Michigan University, City of Ann Arbor, Superior Township, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Freedom Township, City of Saline, Thomson Reuters, and Advanced Disposal. All Washtenaw County residents are welcome and encouraged to attend. This collection is intended for residential use only – please, no businesses.
Other Clean-up Days
One additional County Clean-up Day will be held in other communities this year, October 20 at Eastern Michigan University’s Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti.
