[ARCHIVED] Festive Fall Fun!

ColorsofCancer

Celebrate fall with Washtenaw County Parks. This season will be jam-packed with special events for the entire family.

Get out in Nature!

Throughout the month of September, challenge yourself to get outside and enjoy nature with the Preserve Challenge. Visit us daily on Facebook and Instagram to learn about how you can experience the many natural treasures found throughout the county. Parks naturalists will provide suggestions; however, we encourage you to choose your own path and adventure!

Rolling Hills County Park

It’s the dog days of summer at Rolling Hills County Park. As the season comes to a close, your furry friends can usher in fall with the annual Doggy Dip on September 8 and 9! Be sure to register at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org to celebrate this pup-tacular end of summer event! On September 15, get rockin’ and rollin’ with the Tequila Mockingbirds at Music in the Park. Pack a lunch, bring a friend, and enjoy some fall fun at this free event (park entry fee required).

If that’s not enough to get you moving, show your support for those affected by cancer by participating in the annual Colors of Cancer 5k run on September 22. Skip, dance, or run to the finish line, as you get splashed with color and create beautiful memories with your loved ones. This race benefits the nonprofit North Star Reach, a summer camp program for children with serious chronic and life-threatening health conditions. Register at runsignup.com.

Get ready for Halloween with some spooky fun at the Monster Mash on October 13, from 12pm to 3pm. Play games, venture onto the trek-or-treat trail, or go on a hay ride—there will be plenty of fun at this annual celebration! Register at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org.

Independence Lake County Park

Independence Lake Park also features plenty of opportunities to experience the season. Sleep under the stars at the annual Family Campout on September 8 and 9. Enjoy s’mores by the campfire, crafts, a night sky program, and hikes through the woods.

Race to the end of September with the Big Foot, Small Print Trail Run benefiting the Leslie Science Center. This event to be held September 30, will have you exploring trails throughout the park on a scenic 5k adventure! Register at runsignup.com

Kick-off October with the annual Scarecrow Mystery Dash. Become a detective as you solve clues around the park, compete in an obstacle course, and enjoy tasty treats! Registration required at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org for this October 6 event.

With Halloween coming, take part in the annual Glow Disc Golf Tournament on October 26. Don’t mistake a glowing disc for a growling ghoul! Register at discgolfscene.com.

Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center

Grab your costumes and get ready for the Halloween Bash on October 27. The recreation center gymnasium will be transformed into a spooky spectacle for this family event. Don’t miss out on a night of tricks, treats, and prizes! Register at parksonline.ewashtenaw.org
