[ARCHIVED] 2019 Celebration of Success

A Celebration of Success Honoree Admires his Award

Washtenaw County Community Mental Health (WCCMH) has been honoring those we serve and those who serve at the "Celebration of Success" held annually.  There were so many powerful moments from the evening. With over 65 individuals honored in 2019, many impactful moments were shared;  the tears, smiles, storytelling, expressions of faith and gratitude were incredible.

Some of the memorable quotes and powerful takeaway of the evening include:

-“Every time I fell, I got back up”

-“I’m working for the first time in 10 years…I’m doing things I never thought I’d be able to do”

-“It’s hard because I have Autism, Tourette’s, ADHD, ODD… whatever that means…. Sometimes I get called crazy or retarded but I don’t believe that, I’m just me!”

-“It’s so great seeing so many people come out to support us. I didn’t think there would be this many people!”

A case manager for WCCMH attended for the first time that year and shared, “I heard multiple consumers encourage others in the audience to ‘keep moving forward,’ ‘keep taking steps forward.’ I’m so glad so many consumers said this, as it really calls attention to their commitment, efforts and just focusing on the very next step. This is something I try to remind my clients about in therapy and I’ll be referencing these messages from Celebration of Success in my future sessions.”

You could see the expressions of appreciation on the faces of every single person that walked onto the stage. The annual Celebration of Success is a community favorite event that shines a much needed spotlight on the many achievements of our consumers and those who support them.
